PING!

Did you know that it is the 'ping' on a microwave oven that heats the food? The spinning of the glass turntable winds up an elastic band which powers the 'pinger' which heats the food instantaneously. The longer you set the turntable turning, the more powerful the 'ping'. Scientists have been trying to utilise this phenomenon since it first came to light during the development of the first atomic bomb. The huge cost of answering the 'pinger' question is thought to have directly led to the recent financial crisis and global economic meltdown. Reports that some survivors of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic detonations heard a loud ping immediately before being vaporised have not been substantiated.
